Chad Boyer, PA-C
Chad Boyer is a certified physician assistant who joined our staff at the Mason City Clinic in 2007. Mr. Boyer practices general orthopaedic medicine including: seeing patients in the clinic, performing minor surgical procedures, surgical assist, inpatient care and on-call services - under the supervision of the orthopaedic surgeons at the Mason City Clinic.
Mr. Boyer graduated magna cum laude with a biology pre-medicine degree and LaSallian Honors minor from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. He subsequently obtained a master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Iowa, with classes and training at the Carver College of Medicine. In addition to clinical practice, Mr. Boyer has also been a preceptor for PA students, medical students and family medicine residents. He is a member of the Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery, Iowa Physician Assistant Society and American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Jared Knowles, PA-C
Jared earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Brigham Young University in Idaho and his Masters of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania. He certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Jared spent two years in Italy on a service mission that included teaching English classes, organizing smoking cessation and addiction recovery programs, and organizing/participating in community service projects. In his free time Jared enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing basketball, golf and other sports. He is new to Iowa and looks forward to getting involved with the community.
Katie Weishaar, PA-C
Katie earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and her Masters of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Detroit, in Detroit, Michigan. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. In her free time Katie enjoys reading, running, and travel.
Kyle Ryan, PA-C
Kyle received his bachelor’s degree in Pre-professional Zoology from Northwest Missouri State University. He went on to Des Moines University where he received a degree in Physician Assistant Studies after which he joined the Mason City Clinic orthopaedic department.
Mr. Ryan enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions throughout the 14-county service area as well as working in the clinic and performing minor procedures and the various surgical procedures he assists the surgeons with.
Shawn Janssen, PA-C
Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery
Shawn is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant, who graduated from Des Moines University Physician Assistant program in 1990. She has over 20 years of experience in patient care working in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Practice Medicine, General Surgery, and finally Plastic Surgery. During the past 12 years, Shawn has been a valued provider in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Shawn’s involvement in the practice has included first assisting in surgery, taking call, and holding outpatient clinic hours to help meet the needs of our patients. As a well-qualified team member, she enhances efficiency and safety in the operating room and provides a qualified and uniform extension of the care Dr. Mulkey and Dr. Recinos provide.
Shawn’s experience, gained by assisting in the operating room for many years, allows her to efficiently coordinate postoperative care in her clinics. She is skilled in total body screening for skin cancer and benign lesions. She is well-versed in the initial workup and non-operative management of hand conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglions, and trigger finger.
Matt McBride, PA-C
Matt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology summa cum laude from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, and his Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and CPR/first aid. He is a current member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Iowa Physician Assistant Society.
Matt joined the Mason City Clinic Orthopaedics department as a Physician Assistant in 2004. He is married and has two children. Matt stays busy volunteering at Newman Catholic High School as a team physician in football and as an assistant wrestling coach. He enjoys golfing and is an active member of Epiphany Parish in Mason City.
Robert Giles II, PA-C
Robert received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Psychology, and Health Sciences with a concentration in Microbiology from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. He went on to complete his Master’s degree in physician assistant program at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN. In his free time he enjoys kayaking, traveling, and spend time with family and friends.
